Support Groups and Co-ops
Clinch Valley Home Educators
Our group’s purpose: We are first a support group to offer encouragement, insight, assistance, and fellowship to other homeschooling families. At our monthly meetings we will have structured activities for the children and time to share our learning in a comfortable, encouraging, and social atmosphere. These monthly meetings would not be considered a Co-op but we have started a separate “Engage the Senses” Co-op that runs at different times through the year. (Contact Crystal Smith with questions email@example.com.)
The meetings will be on the fourth Friday of each month (except for Nov and Dec which will be on the 3rd Fri.) at the Washburn/Northside Community Center (behind the Washburn School on hwy 131), unless advance notice is given for another location. They are free but we occasionally ask for a voluntary love offering for a speaker or special guest. We do ask for donations of paper products such as plates and cups and supplies such as craft supplies when needed, if you can. We also bring snacks and drinks to share unless otherwise noted.
We will usually have activity centers for the little ones at the meetings, in addition to our scheduled activities.
We want to be sure that EVERYONE receives all information regarding our group/group activities. We’ve established a protocol to ensure that this happens. The protocol for passing along “official” information to the group is as follows:
First send an email to Katie Nemeth at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Katie will then send out the email to the group, and Emily will get it out on Facebook. This will be more efficient and hopefully will ensure everyone receives the information. Anyone is welcome to post or comment positive information regarding homeschooling on the Facebook page, but if you want your information to go out to the entire group please use this protocol. Not everyone uses Facebook, and not everyone checks their email. Please check one or the other for up-to-date information regarding potential location changes, added activities, cancellations, etc.
Contact Katie at email@example.com * if you are not on the email list and would like to receive updates.
Here is our schedule for each month; details for each will be posted prior to that month:

We are excited about the growth of our group and praise the Father in Heaven for putting us together to support and encourage one another on this homeschooling journey. We encourage you to come to the meetings and participate, but you are also welcome as a spectator. We just want you to come. As iron sharpens iron... We cannot encourage one another if we are not there. Looking forward to seeing you all soon!
