Ready to show your middle and high schooler that there are real options beyond the traditional 4‑year degree?

Join SMHEA at Pellissippi State Community College’s Hardin Valley Campus on Saturday, March 27, 2027, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for Beyond the Traditional Degree: TRAIN Career Fair—a hands‑on event designed especially for homeschool students and their families, while welcoming all students and community members who want to explore next‑step paths.

At this free, come‑and‑go fair, you’ll be able to:

• Talk with employers, tradespeople, training programs, colleges, and community organizations about trades, apprenticeships, 2‑year degrees, certifications, entrepreneurship, internships, and flexible four‑year options.

• Attend educational sessions in two rooms throughout the day on topics like alternative career paths, “earn while you learn,” college‑planning without unnecessary debt, and the impacts of AI on the future of work.

• Discover real options beyond a 4‑year degree—and practical ways to make any degree more affordable and experience‑rich.

TRAIN stands for Training, Real‑World Experience, Apprenticeships, Internships, and Next Steps, and that’s exactly what this fair is about: helping teens and parents see many paths into the evolving workforce and connect with people ready to invest in them.

We’ll also have door prizes and a student scholarship drawing funded by SMHEA and participating vendors, plus engaging activities that make the day fun for younger siblings and the whole family.
